Pepsi Bottling Group and JLWOS Volunteers
Transform Warehouse

On June 13, 2008, eight employees from Pepsi Bottling Group (PBG), based in Somers, NY, spent the day giving Furniture Sharehouse’s back rooms a much-needed makeover as part of Pepsi Bottling Group’s “PBG Gives Back” employee volunteer event.  FS was one of over 25 non-profits venues in Westchester and Fairfield Counties selected to participate in the PBG event.

The PBG employees were joined by half a dozen volunteers from The Junior League of Westchester on the Sound, which supports Furniture Sharehouse as a community project with generous funding and assistance.

The volunteers arrived at 10:00 a.m. and by 3:00 p.m., had transformed our back rooms and sections of the warehouse space into freshly-painted, bright and welcoming spaces to greet and serve our clients.  They were fun, energetic and determined not to leave until every dingy square inch had two fresh coats of white paint.  What a difference!

Thank you to the PBG Team -- Stephanie Dalbo, Shana Martino, David Deasy, Prashant Srivastav, Ed Yee, Nate Kane, Tim Eremin, Richard Badurski.  And thank you to the JLWOS team of Meg Tym (President), Veronica Coach (VP Communications), Rebecca Mazin (FS Director), and Carrie McGranahan.  Thanks also to Community Volunteer Victoria Perrachon and to FS Director Ken Bialo.

We couldn’t have done it without you all!

Assistance With Renovation

VGER sent crews over several days to assist with ceiling repairs, paint scraping and patching, concrete repairs; they also moved all the furniture out of the back rooms before the painting; cleaned and mopped the rooms after the painting and then put all the furniture back.

Many thanks to Kevin McAuliffe, Director of Facilities, Ricky Chatrabhan, Earl Johnson, Lester Thomas, Earl Johnson, Richard Duro, Miles Nixon, Hakim Seward, Jimmy Rembert, Grant Smith, Tony Coleman, Darrell Williams, Sherman Ballard.
