Hurricane Irene and Flooding Leaves Many Westchester Families in Need of Furniture Assistance and You Can Help!
Since opening our doors in April 2007, just in time to help families that lost everything in the devastating floods that spring, Furniture Sharehouse has provided over 19,500 items of free furniture to over 4,200 individuals moving out of homeless shelters, escaping domestic violence, or recovering from difficult personal situations or natural disasters like the spring 2007 floods, and now, Hurricane Irene and its aftermath. You can help by donating your gently-used furniture to us to help these families replace what they lost; by volunteering as a shopping assistant at our warehouse so that we can handle the increased number of referrals, and by donating money to help us pay for the many additional furniture pick-ups we need to do to keep up with the demand.
