Boy Scout Troop 353 from Eastchester holds its first Furniture Drive!

On Saturday, April 21st, Boy Scout Troop 353 from Eastchester sponsored a Furniture Drive for Furniture Sharehouse, Westchester's Furniture Bank.  The Drive, led by David Ewing, aspiring Eagle Scout, collected enough furniture donations from the public in four hours to fill the organization's 18' box truck to the brim with great furniture and home decor items.  All the items collected will be distributed free of charge to families in need to help them transform their empty apartments into comfortable homes. "It is unusual for a group's first Furniture Drive to be so incredibly successful," said Kate Bialo, Furniture Sharehouse's Executive Director.   "David and his fellow Scouts obviously did a great job publicizing the Drive and inspiring Eastchester residents to do their spring cleaning early and bring their unwanted furniture to the Drive so we can give it a new life with families who will love it.  We are so grateful to Boy Scout Troop 353 for their hard work and enthusiasm."

Furniture Sharehouse has provided over 67,000 items of free furniture to more than 12,500 people in need since 2007.  Drop-off donations are accepted at the warehouse and pick-up is available, subject to the organization's Donation Guidelines found at
