February Furniture Drive Sponsored by Community Unitarian Church of White Plains PDF Print E-mail

Our friends at Community Unitarian Church are stepping up again to help Furniture Sharehouse by sponsoring a Furniture Drive.

Date: Saturday, February 6

Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Location: Furniture Sharehouse, Bldg. #3, Westchester County Airport.

Members of CUC will be at the warehouse to accept your donations of gently-used furniture to redistribute to needy Westchester families. Download Flyer. By bringing your gently-used furniture to us, you help us save on expensive trucking pick-up costs.

For a complete listing of the items we can and cannot accept, click here. Questions? Click here. For directions, click here.

CUC has become a valued community partner for Furniture Sharehouse – in September, they conducted a Lamp Drive and donated a portion of their monthly offertory plate; individual CUC members, like Scott and Ann Damashek and Danny Klemens, have donated many hours of volunteer time publicizing the upcoming drive and Furniture Sharehouse’s mission.

Does your house of worship or other community service-oriented organization want to help struggling families get the basic furniture they need to make a house a home? M. B. & Edna Zale Foundation Gives Furniture Sharehouse a $10,000 Challenge Grant PDF Print E-mail

At Furniture Sharehouse we’re quite familiar with challenges. The challenges our clients face, day in and day out, to create a comfortable and stable home for their families. The challenges we face in keeping our warehouse stocked with the most needed items. The challenges case workers face as an ever-increasing number of people seek their help.

But now we face a new challenge, a challenge that we welcome.

The M.B. & Edna Zale Foundation, which provided us with support in our very first year of operations back in 2007, has renewed its support for our mission with two new grants -- $10,000 for general expenses, and a $10,000 Challenge Grant to attract NEW DONORS in 2010 with a dollar-for-dollar match up to $10,000.

Will you help us meet that challenge?

Please tell your family, friends and neighbors about Furniture Sharehouse and our important mission, and let them know that a donation in 2010 will do twice as much good, thanks to our friends at the M. B. & Edna Zale Foundation. To help us earn these matching funds, donate now.

Furniture Sharehouse collects gently-used and new furniture from the general public and vendors and redistributes it free of charge to clients referred by member social service agencies, ensuring that it goes DIRECTLY to those who truly need it. Our clients include: those moving out of homeless shelters into permanent housing; battered women and children escaping domestic violence; working families struggling to stay above the poverty line; young adults aging out of foster care; victims of fires or other natural disasters.

Won’t you help us make a house a home for a needy family in Westchester County?
